Roffa Mon Amour + Stedelijk Museum Schiedam

This is a brief recap of our event about Afro Futurism at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam on March 22!

We screened a film called Neptune Frost (2021) by Saul Williams & Anisia Uzeyman, a sci-fi punk musical mixing of themes, ideas, and songs that Williams has explored in his work, notably his 2016 album MartyrLoserKing. The film takes place in the hilltops of Burundi, where a group of escaped coltan miners form an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective.

Before the film screening, a talk about Afro Futurism took place with artist AiRich, lecturer and researcher Afro-Dutch studies Zawdie Sandvliet and moderator Jennifer Muntslag.

Thank you for coming to our event, we will be waiting for you at our upcoming events!
