Dive into a special evening of depth, encounters and stories during the open-air film festival Roffa Mon Amour. At Brutus, we invite you to the table for the ‘Jij-Wij-Ik Diner: De Reistafel’, a special experience surrounding Indonesia’s 80th year of independence.
Before the screening of the Indonesian independence thriller Djakarta 1946, we invite you to join us around the table for the ‘Jij-Wij-Ik Diner: De Reistafel’, a special evening of food, encounters and stories surrounding Indonesia’s 80th year of independence.
Discover the hidden stories behind the flavors and ingredients of, among other things, the famous –- and non-existent in Indonesia –- rice table. Together with a small group of guests and an engaged moderator, you will engage in a conversation about colonial history, identity and how these themes can still be tasted in our food. Not a lecture, but a shared experience in which you are given space to listen, ask questions and share your own stories.
Come eat, talk and reminisce through taste and stories. Reserve your spot at our dinner table soon, tickets are limited!
Before the screening, we open the night with a short keynote by Yulia, reflecting on her personal experience growing up in post-colonial Indonesia. She’ll share her memories of discovering the country’s colonial history, and how Indonesia is only now beginning to rewrite its schoolbooks, decades after independence.
