Does Friday 13th say something to you? On the creepiest night of the year, Roffa Mon Amour will screen Saint Maud.

“You must be the loneliest girl I have ever seen”, tells the deadly patient to her private carer Maud. But Maud doesn’t feel lonely at all – she feels God inside of her. Maud, a newly devout hospice nurse, becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul. But her sinful past and dark forces threaten to put an end to Maud’s holy calling. Slowly but surely we see Maud sliding away in a toxic mania when she starts feeling warm orgasmic ‘shivers’, seeing storms in her beer and hearing Him (or is it the Devil?) calling out her name.

Rose Glass’ electrifying debut feature centers around the two brilliant female performances in a danse macabre – Morfydd Clark as the mesmerizing and scarier-by-the-minute titular Maud and Jennifer Ehle as the manipulative bohemian ex-dancer Amanda spending her final days in a gothic hilltop house. Saint Maud is a visual treat, crossing borders of reli-horror, lonely character study (Taxi Driver was named as an inspiration), and psychodrama.

A new talent in the British Cinema, Rose Glass set up a story so confident, timeless, and well-composed, it haunted us long after the credits rolled. With the scariest plot twist ever in the last few seconds of the film, we dare you to slide away with us in the whirlwind that is Saint Maud. Nominated for a BAFTA Film Award.
